Biography

Pastor Jon Gainey & Staci Gainey

Jonathan has served as a full-time pastor since 2002, having been ordained by The Salvation Army, after attending The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training, a two-year residency in Atlanta, Georgia, along with his wife, Staci, both of whom were ordained in June of 2002.

Jonathan also served as a local pastor of the United Methodist Church for two and a half years in the North Carolina Conference from July, 2012 until the end of February, 2015, when he and Staci prayerfully decided to return to The Salvation Army, where they have been serving since that time.

Staci was born in Hialeah, Florida, as the child of Salvation Army officers, Majors Tom and Kareen Nicholls, and Jonathan was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where Jonathan and Staci met when they were both adult teens. Following their marriage in November 1988 in Jacksonville, Florida, they became the parents of four adult children—three sons and one daughter.

Staci earned a bachelor’s degree in leadership and ethics from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jonathan graduated with a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina and South Hamilton, Massachusetts.

As a pastor, Jonathan’s passion for teaching and pastoring has been at the forefront of his ministry through a little over 2 decades and 9 appointments, which include cities in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Alabama.

Jonathan is excited to serve as an ordained clergy with the Global Methodist Church, where he and his will continue to serve the people of Christ.
